Curated the NFT digital art exhibit titled as ‘Myths and Memes’ initiated by 101India Creator project at Cafe papaya – Cochin, Kerala. This exhibit showcased works of 14 celebrated Indian digital artists. According to Vimal Chandran
“The word meme was first proposed by Richard Dawkins from his 1976 book The Selfish Gene . A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices, that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme. So in that perspective every mythical story we heard is actually a meme that survived through generations . In the context of the Internet , memes culturally became a part of our digital identity. An Internet meme as being a meme deliberately altered by human creativity — Memes are not just the funny content but they even have the power to subvert, upturn and possibly to overthrow! It would be absolutely great to see the new age artists interpreting their myths and internet memes in this show and presenting their art in the digital medium as NFTs . I personally believe that this time in the history of art is important, as we are going to see a paradigm shift in the way we perceive our stories and memes in Art . This show is an honest attempt from all the artists to tell their version of Myths & Memes “.
